How Gratitude Affects Your Energy

By Jillian Broaddus and Chuck Cusumano

We all know the anecdotes of feeling that someone has “a good energy” or – on the contrary – that somebody gives off a “bad vibe.”  We all have also probably experienced the adage that “good energy attracts good energy,” or “what you put out into the world will come back to you.”

Well, what if there was something to this?

As reported in EI Magazine, research by Dr. David Hawkins (and fully fledged out in his book, Letting Go), “demonstrated the existence of an energy field generated by various emotions… Using a technique called Applied Kinesiology, Dr. Hawkins developed a scale that assigned distinct frequency values to different emotions, ranging from shame (20) to enlightenment (700+). Emotions such as fear and anger had lower frequencies, while emotions like love and joy were found to have higher frequencies.

And one of the highest frequency emotions, nearly equivalent to “love”? Gratitude!

According to further work done by Bruce Tainio, “A normal healthy body resonates at a natural frequency of 62-75 MHz… Gratitude vibrates at 540 MHz.”

But what do higher frequencies mean?  Basically, that you’ll naturally let go of negativity, attract positivity in all people and things around you, and achieve overall better health and happiness.

So, in honor of Thanksgiving, we hope this dose of (maybe crazy!) new science can inspire you to practice a little extra dose of gratitude.  And, if you want to read up on some of our older blogs (containing more tried & true science studies), here are some of our favorite gratitude-inspired posts:
